Winter necklace

My winter necklace - very simple one and looks "warm". I used wooden balls for felting.

Brooch day

I had a brooch day yesterday.
Karlīne wanted a red one with perls:

I need a bowl in brick colour with stone. As all my stones it comes from seaside. I must confess that I am cheating a bit - it is not completed yet because the felt is still wet and the stone is not sticked down.

Carbug

This is what I made for my car.
Black body:

Beautiful angel's wings (crocheted). There is a fly sitting on his head and thinking he is going to be another fly.

But he is not. He gets a pair of nice antennas.

Legs (knitted with wires inside):

And this very nice and intelligent face.

Another pair of wings. Actually this is the very beginning of the process.

And here it is:

Isn't he handsome?

This will be his home now:

Gray stones-bag

Bag made in wet felting technique.

I thought about fastening. My idea was - to make a button of stone.

Other decorations:

And buttonhole:

Here it is. The shape is not perfect but nobody will notice if I go fast.

Snake is not very good

I made a snake with hole in the middle - I wanted to fill it with small stones to make it rattle. Unfortunately the hole is too tight and stones do not fit in.

Felted poncho

I had a piece of red fabrics. As I don't like red colour I decided to cover it with felted "painting". The process was not easy. I made it of two pieces - back and front. I beginned with back and I made a mistake with it - I put too little of wool and so it got many red holes:

I tried to cover the holes using needle felt:

The front piece is better because I had an experience already:

And here it is. I joined both pieces with a tie.

Almost a shawl

Yesterday I felt big desire to felt a shawl. I have just finished my felting classes, so I think I know about that everything. Beginning goes ok:

The problem was that I was lack of wool, so the middle felt up somehow by merino is very poor however I still hoped that will be enough:

The process good also for loosing weight:

I didn't make the final picture... Maybe it will be a summer blancet for a child. The lesson I learnt:
1. BIG amount of wool is needed.
2. Merino is not good with cheese-cloth.
My next step is to felt a poncho. It mustnot fail!

Making a mess of wool

One of my new passions is felting. My felting skills are in the very beginning. Some time ago my opinion about felting was that it is not for me because it means doing weird actions for making a mess. I do not like mess - well, there actually IS mess in my kitchen - but there MUST be strict order when creating textile. But somehow I have changed my mind - when I realized that felting is much more flexible for making art while knitting and crocheting are more "mathematical" and determined. After 3 lessons I have to deduce that I have not enough 2 main qualities needed for felting - feelings and muscle. Logics doesn't help here at all! So it's time for me to go out from that "box" which is called "logics". You just have to feel how long and how hard to act on that soggy piece of wool - and always to be ready for a surprise at the final. When knitting or crocheting you count stiches and make some calculations and can follow the quality all the time. When felting you just hope that the result will not be worse as you expect.
Well, you can see my first feltings (I didn't manage without help of the teacher):
Flower:

Slippers which are not technically perfect however fit well:

This one HAD to be upside, lol (actually it is even good that it turned out to be downside for accident because it is rather ugly):

My first one felted flower

This is the result of my first felting class:
